USA Basketball Notes

Gold Medal: 2014 FIBA Americas U18 Championship.

  • Member of the 2014 USA U18 National Team that compiled a 5-0 record, won the FIBA Americas U18 Championship gold medal and qualified the U.S. for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship; averaged 7.2 ppg. and 4.8 rpg. Finished with 18 blocks in five games to break the previous USA U18 competition record of 13, set back in 1994; averaged a championship-high 3.6 bpg.
  • Member of the 2014 USA Basketball Junior National Select Team that played in the 17th annual Nike Hoop Summit; injured during the game, but finished with two points and three rebounds to help the USA to an 84-73 win over the World Select Team on April 12 at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
  • Took part in the 2013 USA Basketball Men’s Developemental National Team (DNT) mini-camp on Oct. 5-6 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

College Notes

  • Signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and compete for University of Texas in 2014-15.

  • 2014 McDonald’s All-American; scored seven points and grabbed seven rebounds for the East team.
  • Selected to the roster of the West team for the 2014 Jordan Brand Classic on May 18, in Brooklyn, New York.

  • As a senior in 2013-14, averaged 18.7 ppg., 12.4 rpg., 4.8 apg. and 7.8 bpg. to help Trinity High School (Texas) to a 24-7 record and a University Intercholastic League District 6 championship.
  • As a junior in 2013-2013, helped his team to a 17-14 record.
  • As a sophomore in 2012-13, he helped his team to a 15-16 record.
  • Suffered a broken ankle during the spring of his sophomore year, and missed the summer of AAU basketball.
  • As a freshman in 2010-11, was just 6-foot-2 and opted out of playing varsity basketball to develop his game.
