Elfrid Payton Hopes to Put School On the Map
For Elfrid Payton, the summer of 2013 is evolving into one that seems too good to be true. Last month, the rising junior Louisiana Lafayette product traveled to China to compete in seven exhibition games a part of Reach USA basketball’s Christian ministry-based team. Now he’s in Colorado Springs, Colo., trying out for a spot on the USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship Team that later this month, will compete in Prague, Czech Republic. And in August, he will travel to Spain with Louisiana Lafayette’s team to compete against teams shortly before the Ragin Cajuns’ 2013-14 season gets underway. More

Drew Gordon just completed his first year of college at UCLA, and he now finds himself as a “veteran” among a group of 19-and-unders competing for a roster spot on the 2009 U19 Men’s World Championship Team. Gordon is the lone player on the Trials Roster who has previously played for the USA. Most recently, he was a member of the 2008 USA Select Team that defeated the World Select Team 98-78 in the Nike Hoop Summit.
